Step one: Send official transcripts

Official transcripts and exam scores aren’t automatically sent to ASU — you must request that official transcripts and scores are sent to ASU Admissions.

Official transcripts must be sent from each college or university you have attended. High school transcripts cannot be used to award college credit. Make sure all transcripts are sent directly to ASU Admissions. To request AP scores be sent to ASU, visit the CollegeBoard website. For other exams, learn how to request scores.

If you are currently enrolled in courses, be sure to send updated transcripts to ASU Admissions as soon as they are available.

To help your advisor create the most accurate class schedule for orientation, please email [email protected] your unofficial transcripts and/or exam scores prior to your orientation date.

Step two: Secure financial aid and scholarships

For questions related to scholarships, FAFSA, or loans, please contact ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services.

Step three: Review math placement

To determine your math placement, you’ll need to take the ALEKS math placement assessment. You are allowed up to three attempts, and your highest score will be used to determine your placement. If your highest score is 75 or below, please refer to the next steps.

Scores on ALEKSMath score placement
0-60MAT 117 College Algebra
61-75MAT 170 Precalculus
76-100MAT 265 Calculus for Engineers I

Step four: Evaluate transfer coursework

If a course or institution does not appear in the transfer guide, you will need to submit a course for evaluation. Please note that a detailed syllabus is required for each course submitted.

To determine how your previous college coursework transfers to ASU, please use the ASU transfer guide to check whether your courses have already been evaluated. If a course has been evaluated and lists a specific ASU equivalent, no further action is needed.

Transfer course evaluations may take several weeks to process, so we recommend submitting them as early as possible.

Step five: Schedule an academic advisor appointment

If you have additional questions, please reach out to your academic advisor. To make the most of your advising session, please ensure you’ve sent any unofficial transcripts and/or exam scores to [email protected] in advance.
